At times I am "vicious" but you are right. Check it out. EVERYBODY plays that game. Well, except for maybe Vox, but after awhile you begin to think that his studied niceness is itself a game. But its a good game. I've learned from him. If anything, I already have toned down the rhetoric and tried to be more patiently explaining. I have started to realize that my experiences are far more wide ranging than average middle class white "liberal," especially those born into the Reagan era. Thats a very limited worldview since the 1980s. I dont expect them to often comprehend me.
I see more than one side always, often to my own detriment as a self-advocate. Actually, I usually see more than two sides.
Ultimately, as I have repeated over and over, for years, the responsibility for making the reader comprehend rests with the writer. Its when the reader purposefully misunderstands, jumps the shark, or simply goes obtuse (such as Laura when I challenged her to back up a provocative statement she made about "real Arab/Iranian leftists)changes topic (especially one the reader introuces then shies away from when challenged) that I tend to become 'seriously' derisive.
And listen to this: beyond the lamely attempted humour lies a deadly seriousness of purpose. This is key to my ouevre, and attitude I have copped directly from my inspirations. The great social satirists.

I believe the left, in order to be "progressive" has a duty to treasure the unpopular lone voice. Treasure, protect and preserve. Otherwise you become as bad or worse as those with whom you disagree.

NeoKong is an excellent, entertaining writer. Byron is an excellent writer and thinker. Very quick wit. Just because we are in disagreement doesnt mean he is a meathead by any stretch. He's extremely intelligent. I undestand where he's coming from, which is leftist agitprop. A grand tradition. I reject propaganda but I understand it and him. Thats what I meant by accepting 2-3 sides of everything.

Gilroy Stu and I were also highly critical of DKOS going back several years, even before it became a monster site after the 2004 election.
But it was Francis who galvanized the criticism with his MAMZ series. That was blogging brilliance, approaching journalism. I wrote about it extensively on MLW. And I defended him extensively against the howling mobs, until I was banned too.
I didn't say I disagreed with flipping to Obama. What I found most objectionable was his lame ass excuses for supporting her in the first place and then for dumping her. He's a joke. If you found him worthwhile, enjoy. I'll keep my original opinion here. Insipid. And highly color aroused.
