Not really a "watch" so much as an attempt to push him.  I wonder if I can do it all by myself.  That would be interesting.

Today's comment on his blog (third one since election all saying basically the same):

Dear Mr Moore,
you said you wouldn't vote for the Democrats again if they moved one inch to the right.  Well today I see a headline saying Obama will ignore his deadline on withdrawal from Afghanistan.  Isn't that him moving to the right?  The day before it was the news that the Democrats were open to extending Bush tax cuts for the rich permanently and also that DADT was dead in the senate and they wouldn't even push for it.  You said you meant it this time.  You got a bunch of people to vote democratic and sign that petition saying if the Democrats moved "one inch" to the right you'd never vote for them again.  So how about it?  Do you think they have moved an inch to the right since the elections?  And if they have not then what news would make you say they have moved an inch to the right?

Please keep your promise.

Well Cenk Uygur said enough that you could probably push at him too.  On that Dylan Ratigan show.  "We're going to war with the Obama White House" and Ratigan said something about a movement too.

Frankly if I had the man power I'd log all the commentators who have said they are done with the Democrats and keep their words on file so I could throw them back against them when they decide to betray those sentiments in eighteen months time.  But perhaps just some of the more prominent people would do.

So the only way to test "I'm done" is to see what Cenk does in the run-up to primary season. So we'll have to wait on him, at least for a little while, then ask: "Okay, Mr. "I'm Done," what concrete stuff are you doing to organize an alternative to the usual RepubliCorp-DemoCorp bullshit in 2012?

But Michael Moore said, 'If you go that rightie way one more inch, I'm gonna spank you, I promise, I'm really gonna do it this time.' So it's reasonable right now to ask MM, 'have the multiple far right moves of just the ten days since the election finally forced you to abandon the Dems in 2012'?

if they go after social security he will "Go to war with the Obama White House".

More interesting was his "We'll do Obama without Obama" which is the positive message Dylan Ratigan also spoke of (leaving the "firebrand" Greenwald as the only of them to say nothing like that).

"We'll do Obama without Obama" is maybe a good lead in for recovering Obamabots.  It is perhaps as important as kicking Moore to do his thing, but in Cenk's case I think he'd try anyway.  perhaps the odd reminder as things go along if he isn't coming out with some specifics.

Nothing I said has anything to do with elections did it?  Did you mean to post that comment elsewhere?

I don't think my goal here is event he slightest bit unachievable.  Pundits have big egos so, yes, you can get to them.  They want to know what people are saying about them and so on.

Blogging is a demobilising force

As opposed to watching TV or playing computer games?  As opposed to taking my dogs for a walk or seeing a movie with my wife?

I would also give that comment more credibility if it said what is a mobilising force or what can influence the people at the top.  Can you provide some context or would that be too "lame"?

is a great catchphrase for appealing to the salvageable portion of the Obama wave. But I don't think a really large part of the pro-Obama enthusiasm was based on what Ratigan/Cenk understand to be 'Obama without Obama'. My impression was that the enthusiasm was to a major extent the same kind of stuff that powered the Jonas Bros to big record sales or Jon Stewart to big viewership. Pretty shallow and temporary, and not 'us against the ruling elite' class-based.

But, hell, I could be very wrong: I'm definitely no expert on why people loved Obama so much in 2008.

But I admit I feel uneasy being the optimist of the two of us.  Seriously when was the last time THAT ever happened?

Obama is great for soul destroying / crushing hope / putting people off voting.  The "Obama without Obama" is a terrific slogan for overcoming that.  I wonder if he thought about it or just off the cuff.  Brilliant wording.

One clue is the upper-middle-class background of a lot of the pro-Obama (0.00 / 0)

activists. College-age "what's cool, what makes me look smart, what gets me in with the right (careering!) crowd" followers. My crass impression.

Hillary was generally more popular among the 'white working class'. But still, a respectable challenge to Obama needs college campus support, and it's definitely a great slogan.

today vice president Biden said that Afghan war was going to be pushed back until at least 2014 and they are escalating there yet again.  The third time since Obama was elected.  This is just another piece of news since the election, evidence of the Democrats moving to the right.  Now you got a bunch of people to sign a petition saying that if the Democrats moved "one more inch" to the right then you would refuse to vote for them again.  Hasn't that already happened?  Maybe you have a different idea of what constitutes moving "one more inch" to the right than I do.  Does this not count?  I know nobody believed him when he said it but Obama did promise he was only escalating the last two times because he was setting a hard limit on withdrawal.  Clearly that promise is now broken.  Is that not moving "one more inch" to the right?  Of course there have been plenty of other stories about Democrats moving to the right since the election.  What do you say?  Have they triggered your promise to not vote Democrat again?

Today Obama took another move to the right by announcing a two year pay freeze for all federal employees.  Excuse me -- all civilian federal employees (war is too important to ever have a pay freeze).  As you know this will tend to drive the recession deeper so it's bad economics well as a right wing move.  Obama did not do this as part of any deal with Republicans in congress.  He got nothing in return for it.  It was a free gift to the right.

A few weeks ago you asked a lot of people to sign a petition saying that "we mean business" and promising to never vote for the Democrats again if they moved just "one more inch" to the right.  Well they have moved many inches to the right since then.  What do you say to all this?  Do you mean business?  Will you keep your promise?

I see this morning that Digby at Hullabaloo has a piece up where it is reported that president Obama is again apologizing to Republicans that he has not been right wing enough.

She says,

This is an article by Jane Hamsher on the kabuki negotiations between Democrats and Republicans concerning the extension of the Bush tax cuts.  And she says the fix is in.  A rigged game -- rigged by the Democrats secretly co-operating with the Republicans she thinks.

The Democrats are playing games with the unemployed.  They are acting as if the newly elected Republican majority in the House were already in power.  They could easily pass a bill as they already did several times.  For that matter they could have made the coverage for a longer period of time the last time they did pass a bill.

They are playing kabuki here to make sure that the Bush tax cuts for the rich get extended in a "deal" with the Republicans.  It's the Democrats and the Republicans together holding two million Americans hostage.  "Give the rich another trillion dollars or we shoot the unemployed".  it's both parties doing this.  Mr Moore you promised to give up on the Democrats if they moved to the right "one more inch".  Isn't it time to admit that's already happened?

As you know the Obama regime is investigating bringing charges against the internet attacks by Assange supporters but not investigating the internet attacks on wikileaks own site.  Obama has clearly been leaning heavily on companies to isolate wikileaks.  I assume the regime is also behind the "rape" charges in Sweden.  Doesn't all this count as Obama moving "one more inch" to the right?

Haven't the Democrats just proven that they are basically worse than Republicans?  Under Bush with a Republican majority in both houses the rich couldn't get their tax cuts made permanent.  Now under Obama with Democratic super majorities in both houses the rich are doing better.  Obama is more of a Republican than Bush was.  They have certainly "moved one more inch" to the right since you made your promise to never vote for Democrats again if they moved "one more inch" to the right.

What do you say Mr Moore?  It is time for you to keep your promises.  You said "we mean business" when you promised to never vote for the Democrats again if they moved "one more inch" to the right.  Well they completely ignored your ultimatum so now the question is did you mean what you said?  Will you keep your promise?
