Student Revolt at the School of Authentic Journalism and Narco News

by: Stu Piddy

Wed Feb 24, 2010 at 21:04:07 PM EST

I am not a journalist. But I was the first to write an expose about Markos Moulitsas as a person who applied to the CIA and the first and only person to discover that during his involvement with the CIA he was operating Daily Kos. I also wrote about the impossibility of his claims as a child to have witnessed communist guerillas killing students and professors in El Salvador.

I have recently written to students and others connected to Narco News and the School of Authentic Journalism both publicly and privately about the strong amicable associations and connections between the ICNC and right wing extremists like Michael Ledeen who has been justifiably accused as being the author of the Niger Forgeries, as he has been exposed as a forger using the same methodology in the past.

Today I read that there was an upheaval at the The School of Authentic Journalism about all the subjects that I wrote about just prior to the school opening in February.

http://narconews.com/lab/node/33

There is no mention of the upheaval in the Narco News bulletin. There is only positive news in the Narco News Bulletin about the school. Instead it's printed in some obscure website that is associated with the School.

I sent information about the queer associations publicly and  privately.  The only people that I know of who have written about these subjects are Eva Golinger a author and Venezuelan journalist who mentions the ICNC briefly as being anti-Chavez and Stephen Gowans. I discovered the connections independently and then read that Stephan Gowans had made the same discovery. His analysis is superior.

In any case, the Students attending the School of Authentic Journalism especially those from Venezuela's Telesur, wanted to know why one of the "professors" there, a Jack Duvall, had been part of an organization that attempted to overthrow the regime of Hugo Chavez in Venezuela.

Stu Piddy :: Student Revolt at the School of Authentic Journalism and Narco News
Apparently the Telesur students wanted an explanation as to why Jack Duvall was teaching there along with 3 other professors from the ICNC and demanded he be banned from the school.

This caused Al Giordano to ban the students from participating in the school in the future. He also banned anyone from Telesur from perhaps...ever coming to the School for Authentic Journalism ever. If they were to be accepted, they would have to sign an agreement to behave in a manner that Al Giordano would approve of.

Al Giordano:

"I do not plan, at present, to invite any TeleSur employees or correspondents to future schools, not as professors or as students, unless and until they either resign or are fired from TeleSur, or unless and until TeleSur takes affirmative steps to correct the sabotaging behavior of its correspondents at the 2010 School of Authentic Journalism."

The students from Venezuela were protesting that 4 of the professors teaching them were part of an organization, the ICNC, which had trained people to overthrow their government through strikes, mass civil disobedience, seeking high-ranking defectors from the armed forces and through journalism.

Al Giordano's response to this is that it's all about Money.

"Among those who received their air travel, room, board and other costs fully subsidized were three current correspondents of the media organization TeleSur, the international TV network that is funded by the governments of Venezuela and other left-leaning countries in the region. A total of $2,300 dollars was spent on air travel for the three of them, funding which they happily accepted to attend the school knowing full well that it in part came from ICNC. A TeleSur intern from Washington DC also attended the school as a student, at the urging of that news organization's Washington correspondent Reed Lindsay (who himself was unable to attend the school as he is reporting from post-earthquake Haiti)."

What Al Giordano is saying is you accepted the Money from the ICNC so you should do what other people who accept money do. Keep your mouth shut. The money is in effect then a bribe. It's used to influence behavior. I suspect the students knew nothing about the ICNC and it's connections to right wing organizations that seek the overthrow of democratically elected governments like the one in Venezuela until they read about it just before coming to the school.

Al Giordano then states that he believes that the Telesur students came to the school for the purpose of disrupting the school intentionally.

One thing that we have always taught at this School - it was the late Gary Webb who first said so at the 2003 School of Authentic Journalism - is that an Authentic Journalist must always be willing to be fired from his or her job (or internship) to do this work well. My own conclusion is that the TeleSur employees at the School behaved as if they had received a sudden pressure from their news organization to disrupt the School's work, and acted out of fear and panic. Whether or not TeleSur's chain of command was involved in creating that impression, I do not know. But the fact remains that they behaved that way and admitted as much to me and to others that they felt they had to proceed as they did in order to protect their careers at TeleSur.

In the above paragraph by Al Giordano we see that he is clearly Anti Chavez. He's attacking the Venezuelan state run media, Telesur. This is in complete compliance with the objectives of the ICNC, who seek to overthrow Chavez as admitted by Jack Duvall who some believe is connected to the CIA and who has served with neo con James Woolsey, former head of the CIA in a truly bizarre organization called "The Arlington Institute".

In any case, 22 people signed a letter of protest and only one of the signers is from Venezuela.

I am a little surprised that they did not pay attention to the connection between Michael Ledeen and Peter Ackerman. It's Ackerman's money that actually funds the School for Authentic Journalism in part. Ackerman and Ledeen are friends and write articles together. It's much more explosive than any connection between Jack Duvall and James Woolsey, who it is claimed don't know each other.
One of the particpants at the school, a Jesse Freeston had the following comment:

But unlike me, the people organizing that meeting clearly felt like the Chavez government is worth defending. So I am incapable of knowing what it must feel like to be in a room with someone who just admitted to providing help (however indirectly it might have been) to groups trying to overthrow that government. I'm not sure how I would respond, but I imagine I would be motivated to do something, something quick, something rash. Especially when the group in front of me (in this case ICNC) wasn't exactly forthcoming about the details of their participation, nor very understanding of my concerns (I am referring to the first plenary where the information came up, I was much more satisfied with their detailed responses during the 6-hour marathon meeting).

Maybe if they are looking for investigative journalists they should give me a call. I am looking for a new kind of employment and would be open to any offers. I have a lot of leads, too.

Oh wow...I guess this was inevitable (4.00 / 1)
Only recruit 'citizen journalists' from upstanding IV league cadres who've never heard of the ICNC, or else.

Al Giordano (0.00 / 0)
Yeah, the idea he would be upset with Journalists from state run Chavez Telesur complaining about being taught journalism by a Jack Duvall who tried to destroy Chavez and therefore their the person they worked for is really something.

Al Giordano is a very conservative person. He's not liberal. That's why the ICNC supports him....they associate with fascists.

Excellent stuff, Stu (3.50 / 2)
You and the students pressured Giordano to expose himself as an anti-Chavez character. That's what not keeping quiet can do.

Yep, very good stuff Stu. (3.00 / 2)
And also a credit to the blog.

Too bad Stu is an idiot (1.33 / 3)
Yes, this is a good find. However, like with his diary on the Cass Sunstein paper, Stu has made foolish mistakes, which discredit anything good that should have come out of his efforts.

Stu's blogspot doesn't even show up in the alexa ratings. Mine has been showing up ahead of this blog, FSZ, and now even MLW. If anyone has had a real influence in getting through to those dissenting journalists, it was me, not Stupid. I lured Al Giordano into a big ass thread at DFQ2. Now I will be able to use the info found on this new find to expose Al even further. What Stu has done here is merely provide a strawman. Perhaps on purpose. No way to know without paystubs from Disinfo R Us showing up.

But at the link provided, Giordano followed that up with this:

...Colleagues: You might respond to that last statement with some shock. You might ask, "What? Did Giordano just declare a purge of TeleSur correspondents from the J-School?" If that sounds heavy handed, well, it is. And it is also exactly what the TeleSur correspondents and some others tried to do to others during the School: Purge individuals because of their organizational affiliation, appointing themselves in charge of a project that they did not construct, to which they were invitees just the same as any other.

Truth is, I am not going to ban Reed or other TeleSur-related colleagues from future schools. I simply wanted you to think I would do such a thing for the time it took to read the last paragraph, just long enough to remind of what a disgraceful thing the TeleSur correspondents at the J-School attempted to do to others who were invited there. Given what transpired, future invitees to the School from that organization will have to agree in advance to never again attempt to hijack or change the School's agenda, or declare by fiat which parts of the curriculum should happen or not. And if they can't agree to that, well, they will have used their own key to lock themselves out. Life is about making choices and living by them.

Al Giordano is obviously no good and has a propensity to play mind games. But that doesn't mean Stupid isn't at fault every time he twists things around just like he did concerning Cass Sunstein's idea of cognitive infiltration.

There's a reason this forum sucks. It's because it's run by loser anti-semites and right woos left propagandists. This is not a left leaning website. It is an anti-intellectual one. Thanks for this, douchebags.

SQL What is it (0.00 / 0)
You can ask the Venezuelan students if they think of his incredibly ambigous statement. Do they think  his statement is banning them from future "schools"..not only that but he says they may be able to come back if they submit to his demands....that's a backhanded invitation .and I did use the word perhaps...and I did provide the link and I tried to put the whole letter in but something kepts saying the sql ...whatever that is out of line or something...I gave up and edited it. but your jealous and nitpicky of nothing.

It wasn't a good find...I didn't find the information...I spent time out of sheer curiosity on it. And put pieces together...something didn't sound right about it...so I did an investigation which you published on your website.

I have absolutely no interest in promoting Bush Planet and getting hits. I like it because it creates a record of commentary which I might use someday.

I copied the diary from Word and copied the letter on to word and then tried to publish it here...this has happened before...and it's says SQL is wrong...and I don't know what that is...I should since I know a lot of programs, but I've forgotten or blocked out  most of the HTML I learned.

I can't even get the links to work on my blog.

What do you do about that?

DFQ2 the #1 search result for Al Giordano ICNC (1.00 / 1)
Al Giordano of Narco News P*wned!

Sure, Al was playing mind games. But you made no effort to get the story correct. He was spinning it as a "coup d'état" on his precious meeting. Yet, he also said he agreed with the grievance letter except for the last paragraph.

I lured that fake lefty to my blog back in December and induced him into making a lot of statements that contradict what he is saying now.

You have found a few goodies. I'll give you credit for that. But you're clearly not capable of figuring out what those goodies mean.

Just look at the bullshit mess you made out of Cass Sunstein's paper. You wrote that he advocated for things that he clearly did not.

I'm not saying it was the efforts at DFQ2 which was the straw which broke the camel's back leading to this revolt by euthentic, progressive students and professors. Yet, it surely helped a lot more than the crap you put out. Has war started in Iran yet, Stupid? Read any good LaRouche lately?

Credit for most of this should go to Golinger, Gowans, and Barker, along with the students and professors who have had the gonads to confront that smarmy Big Al Giordano.

Ok, I'm back out of here. I should have a new entry soon at DFQ2 on another fake focker named Ormond Otvos. Stack's actions were heroic? Ha! And folks will soon know about Otvos' time running the failed Hippie Mission in Spokane back in 1967. How he wasn't into protesting and didn't believe the Vietnam War was a war. They'll see how most of his guests at the Hippie Mission were homeless teens. Otvos was 26 at the time. Hmmm. And other stuff too. Otvos reeks of being cointelpro. At a minimum, he is totally focked in the head. A Jew hater. A Holocaust denier. A promoter of people flying planes into buildings. Y'all suck shit!

The thing that offends me most is your attempt to take credit for the time I put in discovering the connections between Narco News the School of Authentic journalism, the ICNC and then Peter Ackerman, Jack Duvall...and his connection to Michael Ledeen (which I have not read that Eva Golinger or anyone else has mentioned). And that connection is the most damning because Ledeen and Ackerman have written articles together and Ledeen refers to him as his friend.

I mentioned that I sent my information privately to students at the school. Also I sent the information to George Salzman who responded to my email. I directed him to Gowans articles.

I also noted that previously you attributed all the information about Moulitsas and the CIA to Francis Holland. Francis got the information from me and has never tried to take credit for that. Francis then did a tremendous amount of work expanding on my initial expose. He and I get along fine. I only mentioned it at the top because it's become muddied.

Now what is happening and what is happening is that bigger fish than you or I will claim credit (if that's something you imagine involves the word "credit") for these discoveries.

Golinger and Gowans, to my knowledge never focused or have written about Narco News or The School of Authentic Journalism, they wrote about the ICNC.

I drew upon the connections to  the ICNC to Narco News and the School of Authentic Journalism...

One thing I notice is that Francis Holland who has been banned from everywhere...and myself really don't get involved in calling people individually names and cursing them. I have called entire groups of people stupid or dumb but it's pretty rare that I get into personalized stuff with someone.

I don't get paid for doing this. I like doing it, it's interesting. I don't want to spend all the time it takes to do everything, really the way it should be done grammatically and informationally and that's probably a personal kind of laziness. I can type fast and  I wonder if I were paid to do it what it would be like.

The most important thing is that the information about these creepy people who are working to sabotage whatever "progressive" means have been exposed or at least put under a light so that they are examined more carefully.

I get satisfaction from that.

that reading the work of others, mangling what they said beyond recognition, and then trying to take credit for it himself is the standard MO for this subject.

Isn't it interesting the way the subject matter is always avoided through the use of distraction and personalization?

While you don't care about personal recognition, I have added a hat tip to yourself at the top of my new entry on Al Giordano and the ICNC. I should have done that and apologise for not doing so. I had mentioned that I found out about it from someone else, but I didn't give your name then due to overall differences with your blogging. Nonetheless, I was wrong for not mentioning you, and I hope you can accept my apology.

Yeah, I'm anti-Jewish, anti-Jesuit, anti-everything that people use to attempt to define themselves.

Don't define yourself in terms that some supposed authorities insist upon. No matter where they come from. Including dead rabbis, priests, prophets, talk show hosts, etc. Define yourself as yourself. Be a strength unto yourself. You will then have plenty of wonderful friends.
