"Marines push 'The Breacher' against Taliban lines!!!"

Oooops, except there aren't any lines. It's a guerilla war, morons! I was arguing with moon or not really moon about how absurd the big lies can be when there is only cheerleading and no journalism left in the mainstream media. That Yahoo/AP headline is about as bad as it gets. And hey, look at the video game worthy pic. Propagandapallooza!

Major Afghan battle looms

Here's another:

US and Afghan troops ring Taliban stronghold
By ALFRED de MONTESQUIOU and CHRISTOPHER TORCHIA, Associated Press Writers
Thu Feb 11, 6:34 pm ET
NEAR MARJAH, Afghanistan

[Is Marjah a fortress-like 'stronghold' or a poor but proud overgrown village?]

U.S. and Afghan forces ringed the Taliban stronghold of Marjah on Thursday, sealing off escape routes and setting the stage for what is being described as the biggest offensive of the nine-year war.

["Afghan forces"? In action, pics? And try "biggest civilian massacre of the nine-year war."]

Taliban defenders repeatedly fired rockets and mortars at units poised in foxholes along the edge of the town, apparently trying to lure NATO forces into skirmishes before the big attack.

"They're trying to draw us in," said Capt. Joshua Winfrey, 30, of Tulsa, Okla., commander of Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines.

[No they're not, they're trying to get you to set off IEDs. The resistance/Taliban won't be there when you go in, just civilians who'll you'll kill. Guerilla War 1A, morons.]

Up to 1,000 militants are believed holed up in Marjah, a key Taliban logistics base and center of the lucrative opium poppy trade. But the biggest threats are likely to be the land mines and bombs hidden in the roads and fields of the farming community, 380 miles (610 kilometers) southwest of Kabul.

The precise date for the attack has been kept secret. [[emphasis added]] U.S. officials have signaled for weeks they planned to seize Marjah, a town of about 80,000 people in Helmand province and the biggest community in southern Afghanistan under Taliban control.

[Genius! You're signaling for weeks so the Taliban can get its IED and evacuation plans well in order!? The U.S. war machine is already lumbering personified, weighed down by crap the for-profit military forces its soldiers to carry around, but you're now signaling where you're about to move, for weeks, to your enemy? This is embarrassing: at least read Guerilla War for Dummies (but expect the Taliban to have long passed that level).]

I didn't complain, and (0 / 0)
I'd rather talk about the diary topic. But, since I'm about to be banned, I'd rather explain why that's a bad idea than be banned without protest.

No one has explained to me why I was banned, so your accusation that I'm continuing on my merry way may be correct.

As I've said multiple times, I did try and others tried on my behalf to get me unbanned. In any case, as you can see by my diaries, one of which has 595 on-topic comments, I've come back and contributed to this site and not done anything even remotely 'out of line'. Not that that matters, apparently Kafkaesque rules will rule here, but wouldn't it be better overall just to 'miss' the discrepancy that I've returned? Or would this one 'slip-up' expose the slipper-upper to punishment by a higher authority?

can't ignore that you're a banned user when you come right out and tell them. And you can't expect for people not to notice that you're a returned banned user when you return with the same exact user name as you had when you were banned, except with a "2" attached to it.

If you wanted to come back to dKos to "contribute[] to this site and not do[] anything even remotely 'out of line,'" you should have picked a user name unconnected with your banned one, not told people you're a banned user, and behaved in a way that would not tend to indicate that you're a banned user returned.

Such a return would have still been against the rules of the site, but you would not have forced people, as you have here, to either enable or report you.

the fact that you're a banned user and that you have no business being here unless you've applied for and been granted reinstatement.

You're also a dense returned banned user. In regards to your comment below, I was not suggesting that you "sneak[] onto the site with a fake identity." I was suggesting that if, as you claimed, you wanted to come back to dKos to "contribute[] to this site and not do[] anything even remotely 'out of line,'" you would have kept a low profile. But it is becoming increasingly clear that, in truth, you are not at all interested in "contribut[ing] to this site and not do[ing] anything even remotely 'out of line.'" Like most returned banned users, you mostly want to wail about the unfairness of it all, and hope people will soothe your brow and hold your hand.

Boring. Childish. Dumb.

by blueness on Thu Feb 11, 2010 at 08:00:13 AM PST

Yes, you were suggesting I sneak back on here. (0 / 0)

Your words, which you've repeated and expanded on, make that obvious. What does keep "a low profile" mean, in this context?

In any case, you and others have brought this issue up, I have defended myself from the policy of completely censoring my contributions without ever explaining why. That indicates that you are and I'm really not interested in the apparent Dailykos viewpont censorship phenomenon. What can you say that's interesting about it? Nothing more than it's morally offensive and good people should disassociate themselves from it.

You're a fucking whiner and a bore, not to mention disingenuous as hell, and therefore the "Dailykos viewpoint censorship phenomenon," which resulted in your ouster, seems to have worked very well.

Get lost.

Now swearing, but you won't be disappeared. (0 / 0)

The same old sad contrast between you and other bullies, who will never be censored, and me, who simply stays on topic and obeys the rules and is disappeared without explanation. But yes, I admit to defending myself against perfect Kafkaesque silliness.

Yer seriously recommending sneaking onto (0 / 0)

the site with a fake identity. Disconnecting me from all my previous contributions here and elsewhere, about which there's nothing to be ashamed, and becoming complicit with the idea that I agree with the notion that I should sneak around shame-faced, hiding my true identity.

Taliban Navy, Airforce May be Wiped Out in This Offensive....if we play our cards right! (5.00 / 1)
Make no mistkae, this is a MAJOR ASSAULT on a Taliban Stronghold, it's SHOW DOWN at the OK Corral, it's U.S. troops landing in Normandy after the Russians defeated the Germans in doubya doubya 2.

We could lose, hundreds, perhaps thousands of brave fighting men, women and drones.

The strategy of announcing our attack is a brilliant tactical manuever, lulling the Taliban forces to into a false sense of security in the heart of their logistical center. They know we are going to attack, but they don't know the precise hour, minute second. That's OUR SURPRISE!

We will wipe out the holes they are holed up in. We will wipe out their  logistical center....then....they won't be able to act logically anymore>Once  we  have taken all their proceeds from the Opium trade away from to shore up our banking system...Then...where will they buy their tanks? Who will sell them anymore planes for their airforce, where will they get their submarines for the Taliban Navy, and ICBM's?

This is going to be the most dramatic moment of the war on terror in years.

I can see the headlines ...if....if....we are successful...."Obama's Afghan strategy deals the Taliban a Major Blow."

Who cares about Health Care? The Economy?....the only thing that matters is winning!

Obama knows what he's doing...he's going to be our president for 8 Glorius years, hand crafting policies made by a young brilliant mind, an "old soul" a man whose been through so much, and brought all of his experiences as a real person to the Whitehouse to lead, to nuture, to put America back as the greatest power the world has ever known, a nation who has soldiers in 75% of the nations of the world, and with god's help can go all the way. !00% is what we want. And that's what Obama gives 100% of what he's got.

Huh?, Huh? Ever think of that Mr. taliban villager person?

The number of countries that the United States has a presence in is staggering. According the U.S. Department of State's list of "Independent States in the World," there are 192 countries in the world, all of which, except Bhutan, Cuba, Iran, and North Korea, have diplomatic relations with the United States. All of these countries except one (Vatican City) are members of the United Nations. According to the Department of Defense publication, "Active Duty Military Personnel Strengths by Regional Area and by Country," the United States has troops in 135 countries. Here is the list:

Afghanistan

BREAKING! The Attack is ON! (4.50 / 2)
Please someone tell the people at Daily Kos...the ATTACK is on....

Initial reports say that a Taliban family has already been wiped out....there's some confusion as to what that means....

Informed sources suggest they are all part of the Taliban Airforce.
Several Taliban Naval Ships have been sunk on dry land!

Hundred of holes the Taliban have been using to hole themselves up in have been filled with Dr. Pepper, Jimmy dean sausages, pork and  Poloskaya vodka, (a cheap russian vodka made from potatoes).

Wer'e on our way to victory.

So far, not a single drone has been brought down!

Oxymoron of the Century (4.00 / 1)
From your link, describing the "Breacher":

"I consider it to be a truly lifesaving weapon," said Gunnery Sgt. Steven Sanchez, 38, leader of a platoon from the 2nd Marines Combat Engineers Battalion.

Not to be outdone by his American counterpart, an Afghan Army soldier doesn't know how right he really is when he says:

"I'm happy to see that this monster is on our side," said Rahim Ullah, a machine gunner in the Afghan army unit that will fight alongside the Marines.

Drones don't suffer these kinds of slip-ups when they're being interviewed by American journalists.

"May we live long and die out"

9 years of battle with the Primitive Taliban. (4.00 / 2)
These images capture the truth of battle. A arrogant, primitive group of Taliban fight the most powerful military in the history of the world from the greatest nation in the history of mankind.

Do they really think they can defeat us? For 9 years they have lived under that illusion. How stupid of them.

The Phoney Battel, the Phoney Gun Fights (4.67 / 3)
Here's an example of how propaganda is used in these days. In order to make it sound like there is a battle going on we are told that "progress is slow" in overtaking this town composed of villagers without any heavy weapons...probably no weapons and no Taliban. Numerous 'gunfights"...that's a lie...the whole thing is bullshit. The idea is to make it sound like there is a battle going on so that people think there must be an enemy we are fighting.

There is no enemy. It's pretend. They are just killing civilians. Why is it, if there are 'numerous gunfights" going on only 3 US soldiers have been killed?
It's because 3 U.S. soldiers could have been killed by any number of reasons, heart attack getting run over by a Humvee ...whatever.

Over 1 Million Iraqi's dead....aound 5.000 American troops....what kind of "battle" is this?

"U.S. Marines and Afghan soldiers encountered pockets of stiff resistance and extensive minefields as they sought to press into this Taliban sanctuary in southern Afghanistan on Saturday.

Numerous gunfights with insurgents and painstaking efforts to clear roads of makeshift bombs slowed the advance of many coalition units and delayed them from reaching some key destinations in this farming area of 80,000 people. The operation was further complicated by the challenge of fording irrigation canals that ring the area and traversing a landscape covered in knee-deep mud."
