Good game, for football.

Big powerplant under construction in Ct. blew up.

Bad weather in the Mid-Atlantic.

Sarah Palin busts Obama teleprompter while reading from her palm during interview, makes no sense at all again, conflicting sentences one sentence apart. The ultimate ADD, short term memory shot, but trainable. Job security for Tina Fey.

Blogs are dying. SciAm comments stuffed with very clever denialists. News full of garbage. Society in decline. Haiti what?

Meanwhile science blasts ahead.

A very good football game, indeed!*

Big coal mine in Virginia blew up. Killed 69.

Horrible weather in Minnesota. -24 F for days.

Congress dithers and thwarts the President. Congress is holding up important appointments. Especially obstructionist are radical Republicans, convinced that only they have the right solution to reconstruct our country.

Pamphlets are fading away. Clever arguments in medical journals against sterile antiseptic conditions in favor of theories about "bad air." New religions are forming, planning for the imminent apocalypse. News full of garbage. Finland what?

Meanwhile science blasts ahead. And people continue to read Ecclesiastes. I notice we're both under the sun, Mr. O. What's new?

And that's the way it is... 1867.

*Rutgers and Princeton played the first collegiate football game this year! Fun for the young lads to be sure, but I doubt the fad will last.

Breesus Christ heals New Orleans (4.00 / 1)
Breesus Christ leads New Orleans out from under the darkness of Hurricane Katrina.

The Saints have been a ray of hope for beleaguered New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina slammed into the Gulf Coast, leaving death and destruction in its wake in 2005.

It was this tragedy, says Brees, that inspired his team to complete their long-awaited transformation from chumps to champions.

Brees, who threw a record-equalling 32 passes for 288 yards to earn the Most Valuable Player, said: 'We knew we had an entire city, maybe an entire country, behind us. It was destiny. We just believed in ourselves. We're feeling it was all meant to be. Mardi Gras may never end.'

Brees joined the Saints six months after Katrina. A shoulder injury cost the 31-year-old a new deal with the San Diego Chargers. But Brees is delighted to have got the chance to play for New Orleans.

'Coming to New Orleans and having that opportunity there was definitely a calling,' he said.

'It was an opportunity that not many get in their entire life, to come to a city that had just been devastated by a natural disaster. Not only were we rebuilding an organisation and a team, but also a city and a region.'

Yes, a preordained deliverance from the clutches of...could it be.......Satan?!

Thank the Lawd that now, since Breesus and his Saints have led them to the promised land, he'll soon lead the beleaguered, former residents of the Lower 9th back to the historic neighborhoods that generations called home. Then again, they were disadvantaged to begin with, so this is working out pretty well for them...chuckle, chuckle...
