Am I reading this right?
"In testimony before the House Intelligence Committee today, National Intelligence Director Dennis Blair told representatives that American citizens can be assassinated by the US government when they are oveseas.
Blair said the comments were intended to "reassure" Americans that there was a "set of defined policy and legal procedures" in place and that such assassinations are always carried out by the book."
Just don't go overseas. Well, it's no clear if you can be assassinated while in the country. Blair didn't say U.S. Citizens in America aren't being assassinated. |

| Well, I'm relieved to hear that if I, or anyone I know is assassinated, it will have been done by the book with a set of defined LEGAL procedures.
People are assassinated based on suspicion and then by presidential order. That's sounds pretty legal. No trial and you get the death penalty.
Bush was bad. Obama is worse. He's just openly saying that he's signing executive orders to have American citizens killed because maybe they are kinda associated with groups that have bad thoughts about America.
Some Americans might be upset upon hearing they could be assassinated if they are suspected of trying to harm America. They can sleep safely knowing that they won't be assassinated for criticizing the government. Not at this time.
Blair insisted that under no circumstances would Americans be assassinated overseas for criticizing the government, adding "we don't target people for free speech." Rather they are subject to assassination when the government decides they are a threat and when they "get specific permission." Exactly who was giving that permission was unclear.
I guess the idea is to present these violent offensive ideas as if they are the norm, before they become the norm and that leaves everybody wondering if they have missed something. Is this the way it's supposed to be? Well, of course didn't YOU know?
It's like walking into a room and everybody is kneeling. Well, shouldn't you kneel to? |
